Granola: Safe for Dogs and Cats?

Granola varies too widely for a blanket safe answer. Raisins, grapes, macadamia nuts, chocolate, and xylitol are toxic to dogs, while even plain mixes are calorie-dense and often high in sugar, fat, or fiber.

Granola is recipe-dependent and offers cats little useful nutrition. Chocolate, raisins, xylitol, and some nuts add toxic ingredients, while sugar, fat, dried fruit, and dense fiber can upset digestion.
