Marijuana/THC Edibles: Safe for Dogs and Cats?

THC ingestion causes marked sedation and disorientation in dogs, and edible products are riskier still because they often also contain chocolate or xylitol.
Toxic principle: THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol)
Watch for
- lethargy
- wobbliness
- dilated pupils
- slow heart rate
- low body temperature
- urine dribbling
- agitation
Cats show the same sedative and disorientating response to THC as dogs, and edible products add the risk of other toxic ingredients mixed in.
