Grapes: Safe for Dogs and Cats?

Grapes can cause sudden, severe kidney failure in dogs even in small amounts, and there is no known safe serving size.
Toxic principle: Tartaric acid
Watch for
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- lethargy
- excessive thirst
- abdominal pain
- reduced or no urine production as kidney failure progresses

Grapes can cause kidney failure in cats, and vets recommend avoiding them entirely even though the evidence base is smaller than for dogs.
